Cadigan has made this compelling work with Katie Cadigan, his filmmaker sister and co-producer with Ira Wohl, known especially for his documentary "Best Boy," about his mentally challenged cousin. The portrait we get of Cadigan is remarkably candid, offering an opportunity to examine close-up his behavior and articulation of the thoughts that have rushed through his tormented mind.

We see his interaction with others and learn about his strong points as well as weaknesses. Cadigan studied painting and printmaking when he attended Carnegie Mellon University, where his illness first began to take hold. Medication intended to help produced debilitating side effects.

Once having gotten on the recovery track, Cadigan began to realize his artistic bent and has since specialized in woodcuts, which have been exhibited. His subject matter reflects his quest for spirituality. As for his filmmaking, he learned to photograph himself from his sister. But the driving passion behind the film is his desire to provide a record that will be helpful to others in understanding his illness and what he has gone through to get to the point where he has his own art studio in Palo Alto, CA.
